Middle Quinton - A new Eco-town Community

Middle Quinton's Environmental & Technical Objectives

Our proposals for Middle Quinton would deliver the following:

  • Leading edge waste management and recycling systems

  • Recovery of raw materials for recycling

  • Generation of electricity from the town’s domestic and industrial waste and sewage

  • Rainwater harvesting for re-use in lavatories and washing machines

  • Network of lakes, watercourses and woods.

  • Biodiversity and ecology

  • Materials – use of natural, local and recycled materials

  • Solar heating and high insulation standards

  • Improvement to existing rail link to main line London, Oxford, West Midlands and West Country

  • Rail/electric bus link to Stratford - upon - Avon town centre

  • Rail distribution centre for fruit and vegetables (main industry of the Vale of Evesham), reducing heavy goods traffic
  • Benefits to the area’s road infrastructure with the improvement of Stratford - upon - Avon’s ring road and new river crossing providing improved access to junction 15 of the M40. This will be achieved in collaboration with the local county and government authorities

  • The establishment of a university faculty on site providing a national centre of excellence for Eco - town science

  • Schools, medical centre, police station, fire station, social services

  • Facilities to include leisure, retail, commercial and starter business activities and opportunities

  • The creation of employment in and around the town will be of paramount importance in our objectives of reducing the use of the motor car by 50%

  • Keen emphasis given to the use of the cycle with dedicated tree-lined cycle paths linked to all areas of the town and to Stratford - upon - Avon via the existing, dedicated cycle track (the Greenway)

  • Recreation, sporting facilities and parkland

  • The creation of a farmers’ market in the town centre
